Volunteer Opportunities

Residents of southeast or southcentral Pennsylvania, looking for an excuse to get out and enjoy Penn’s Woods?  The Friends of the State Line Serpentine Barrens (FSLSB) plan at least four workdays for the Fall.

  • September 18 9am-2pm at New Texas in Fulton Township
  • October 2 9:30am-2:30pm at the Goat Hill Serpentine Barrens in West Nottingham Township
  • October 16 9:30am-2:30pm at Goat Hill
  • October 30 9:30am-2:30pm at New Texas

Serpentine soils host a number of plants – some globally rare, some more common to the great plains or mountainous west – that would otherwise be squeezed out by competing Pennsylvania species.

Join a great group of volunteers dedicated to keeping those serpentine grasslands and savannahs open and maintaining the trails that that allow visitors to reach them.

We work closely with the William Penn Forest District, which manages the Goat Hill, Chester County’s Nottingham Park, the Nature Conservancy’s Chrome Barrens as well as willing private property owners.
