Game of Logging: Chainsaw Training for Volunteers
October 22 @ 7:30 am - 4:30 pm| $25
The Game of Logging (GOL) is widely acknowledged as the premier chainsaw safety and productivity training program in the country, offering hands-on chainsaw safety training in a competitive environment. Top instructors across the country combine demonstration with participation to teach chainsaw safety, productivity, conservation, and cutting techniques. This one-day course is designed to meet DCNR’s requirements for the use of chainsaws by trail volunteers, and the trainer is acceptable to both the Bureau of Forestry and the Bureau of State Parks.
Participants will gain an understanding of what contributes to accidents and how to avoid them. Hands on and practical work planning strategies will be coached and practiced in this course by instructor Kevin Snyder of Pleasantville, PA. There is a strong focus on personal safety, risk assessment, and accident prevention. Training workers and developing skills that reduce variables and mitigate risks associated with chainsaws and cutting techniques is the general theme of this course.
Participants will need to provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE) (hard hats, eye protection, and hearing protection).
The class is limited to 10 participants and registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be created. A registration fee of $25 will be matched by a $75 scholarship from PPFF to cover the cost of the workshop.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, lunch will not be provided. Please bring your own brown bag lunch.
