Protect Our Parks & Forests-For Our Health, Our Economy, and Our Future
In 2017, with the support of the Richard King Mellon Foundation, PPFF undertook a comprehensive study of the maintenance needs in our state parks and forests. The resulting report (The Legacy of Pennsylvania’s State Parks and Forests: The Future Is In Our Hands) is an in-depth look at these ongoing and urgent needs.
On March 25th, PPFF penned an open letter to Governor Wolf and the members of the General Assembly reiterating our support for the full funding of the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (the “Keystone Fund”) and the Environmental Stewardship Fund. When more money is needed to support our state parks and forests (and community and local recreation projects, too), now is not the time to consider diverting any of the dedicated funds supporting these resources.
