EXPANDED RECREATIONAL OPPORTUNITY IN SUSQUEHANNOCK STATE FOREST

February 5, 2018

Camp Hill, PA –The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), applauds the generous contribution of Pennsylvania businesses and outdoor enthusiasts for making possible the acquisition and donation of cross country ski equipment to Susquehannock State Forest for free public use.
Made possible by support of the annual silent auction held at PPFF’s awards banquet, the ski equipment opens new recreational opportunities for enthusiasts—and would be enthusiasts—of all ages.
For the past five years, proceeds from the annual Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation have been used to reduce barriers to participating in healthy outdoor recreation. Purchases include hand cycles and recumbent bikes, adaptive kayaks, trekking poles, and handicapped accessible boat launches for public use in some of Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests.
“The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation is committed to reducing barriers to outdoor recreation’ said Marci Mowery, President of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “We understand the important role the outdoors plays not just in promoting human health, but in supporting local economies.”
The Susquehannock State Forest has some of the best cross country skiing in North Central PA. Adding the option to borrow skis will introduce more people these incredible trails. This is an opportunity for families, adults and children, to try a new experience, potentially leading to a life time of enjoying outdoor recreation.
The skis will be available to borrow at no cost from the main office located at the top of Denton Hill, in The Suquehannock State Forest. Call (814) 274-3600 for details.
Check the Susquehannock State Forest Facebook page for planned outings and trail conditions.
