November 21, 2017

Camp Hill, PA –Marci Mowery, President of The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), the only non-profit whose mission is Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests, was honored at Shippensburg University on November 10, 2017 by the Pennsylvania Geographic Society for her lifetime of valuable contributions to geography.
The award is given each year and the recipient is selected by the host university of the annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Geographic Society. It is often someone who has significantly contributed to research or application of geography.
“I think Marci imbibes the qualities of a great geographer,” said Alison Feeney, Professor, Department of Geography and Earth Science, Shippensburg University. “Her work and personal recreation choices are dedicated to promoting the health of Pennsylvania’s natural resources and ensuring all ages, genders, race, and physical abilities get to appreciate it.”
“It is an honor to receive the Distinguished Geography Award” said Marci Mowery, President of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “Geography plays a very important role in the work that we do as a Foundation to create a sense of place and connection to our state parks and forests, building stewards of this precious resource.”
