Role of Volunteers

We all have skill sets that can contribute to trail volunteering. Not everyone can spend a week, or two, with a trail crew on larger scale projects, but those opportunities do exist, and yes, they need volunteers! Whatever you can do as a volunteer helps. It can be helping with clerical or administrative tasks, trail maintaining, or becoming a trail steward. The trail steward is on the front line of trail maintenance, doing light trail maintenance, but, as the eyes and ears of a trail maintaining group, the steward has a very important role in reporting problems when encountered, often preventing small problems from becoming large problems.
