CALLING ALL ARTISTS: PENNSYLVANIA PARKS AND FORESTS FOUNDATION TO HOLD PLEIN AIR Day
Camp Hill, PA –The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), will hold a Plein Air day on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 1-3:30pm, at Hammonds Rocks in the Michaux State Forest. There is no charge to participate in the day, but artists may donate their painting for sale to support the stewardship of state parks and forests through graffiti removal.
Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation is holding this event to raise awareness of the problem of graffiti on our state lands and demonstrate a better way to enjoy the beauty of our state parks and forests. October will be the first Plein Air event held by PPFF, with plans for Spring and Fall 2017 sessions to be announced at a later date.
Artists are invited to bring their easel, paints and canvas or a camera to capture the beauty of the Michaux State Forest and Hammonds Rocks. PPFF staff will be on hand to talk about the stewardship of Hammonds Rocks.
“Nature inspires art, but we prefer to see paint on canvas, not 500 million year old rock,” said Marci Mowery, president of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “We are excited to invite artists to this special location to capture the special sense of place created by the geology of South Mountain.”
Information can be found on PPFF’s website, www.paparksandforests.org and questions can be emailed to [email protected]
