BEAVER COUNTY, Pa., Sept. 16, 2021 — Visitors to Raccoon Creek State Park can now learn about the rich history of the park through a series of interpretive panels, thanks to a $16,000 donation from Energy Transfer. The panels were unveiled yesterday at a ribbon-cutting event at the Wildflower Reserve Interpretive Center.
Raccoon Creek State Park welcomes over a half a million visitors annually and represents a rich history, from the Shawnee Indians, to the creation of Mineral Springs, to Civilian Conservation Corps history to present day. The series of three interpretive panels tells that story through imagery, including a map of historic locations within the park.
“It’s important to connect to the history and legacy at our parks, and we are so happy to see this project come to life at Raccoon Creek State Park,” said Marci Mowery, President of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “Energy Transfer’s investment helped us bring this project from idea to reality, and we look forward to educating visitors at the park for generations to come.”
