BEAVER COUNTY, Pa., Sept. 16, 2021 — Visitors to Raccoon Creek State Park can now learn about the rich history of the park through a series of interpretive panels, thanks to a $16,000 donation from Energy Transfer. The panels were unveiled yesterday at a ribbon-cutting event at the Wildflower Reserve Interpretive Center.

Raccoon Creek State Park welcomes over a half a million visitors annually and represents a rich history, from the Shawnee Indians, to the creation of Mineral Springs, to Civilian Conservation Corps history to present day. The series of three interpretive panels tells that story through imagery, including a map of historic locations within the park.

education panel“It’s important to connect to the history and legacy at our parks, and we are so happy to see this project come to life at Raccoon Creek State Park,” said Marci Mowery, President of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “Energy Transfer’s investment helped us bring this project from idea to reality, and we look forward to educating visitors at the park for generations to come.”

“Investing in the communities where we operate is central to our work, and that includes supporting state parks through the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation,” said Chris Koop, Lead Public Affairs Specialist for Energy Transfer. “It’s wonderful to see these historic panels in their finished form and to watch visitors enjoy and learn from them. We look forward to finding more opportunities to support Pennsylvania’s state parks and to honor our cultural legacy.”
