Education

Join the Friends of Pinchot and park staff for an informational workshop on the spotted lanternfly, an invasive insect introduced from Asia that has been spreading across Pennsylvania. The workshop will include information about the insect and how to reduce the problems caused by this non-native pest, including how to identify them and help control their spreading populations. Participants will have the chance to construct a spotted lanternfly trap using easily accessible items, and that is useful for homeowners with vulnerable trees.

The spotted lanternfly workshop will take place on Saturday, May 14, at 10:00 am, at the environmental learning center (ELC) in the Conewago Day Use area. (1202 Alpine Road, Wellsville, PA).

The workshop is free, but registration is needed and space is limited. Participants should be 10 years of age or older. Please register by emailing [email protected], and include a count of all participants in your group attending the workshop.
