The basics are important. When you go out to your favorite park, you have a certain expectation that the grass will be mowed, the toilets will flush, and a tree won’t fall on you.
The truth is, though, that grass doesn’t cut itself and bad stuff happens when anything mechanical is involved. Maintenance Supervisor Steve had “one of those years” in 2016 when two sewage treatments plants and a water main all decided to break at once at Gifford Pinchot State Park. Steve rounded up the troops, including some of the new Pennsylvania Outdoor Corps members, and got everything back in good working order. “We’re all in this together” are the words he lives by. So, what if the infrastructure is just allowed to continue to deteriorate?
