The Friends of Oil Creek State Park, a chapter of the Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation are pleased to announce that they will be holding their Chicks-in-the-Sticks event on Saturday, June 17, 2023.  The purpose is to introduce women to new outdoor activities and crafts. 

This event will run from 8 AM to 5 PM at the Egbert Farm Day Use area of Oil Creek State Park.

The classes are for women at least 18 years of age and participants can choose four classes. Each class is hands-on, and the participants will produce an item, be introduced to a skill, or get projects they can take home. These classes are run by expert instructors. 

 

Participants will also receive a “goody bag” including an Oil Creek gift – such as a buff or travel pouch. 

Lunch will be provided.

Classes include things like Archery, Kayaking, Fly Casting, Plant ID, Herb Walk, Outdoor Cooking, Medicinal Uses of Herbs, Moving in Nature, Art of Wood Burning, Nordic Sports, Yoga, Hiking, Outdoor Photography, and others.

 A registration fee of $55.00 is required. Registration begins April 17th and ends June 9th. Details about the classes and instructors can be found by visiting the Friends of Oil Creek State Park’s website at www.friendsocsp.org and https://www.facebook.com/friendsofoilcreekstatepark.

Registration can be made online by check or credit card. This is a rain-or-shine event. Class size is limited so early registration is recommended.  Registration is limited to 100 participants.
