PENNSYLVANIA PARKS AND FORESTS FOUNDATION APPOINTS GEORGE FERNANDEZ TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Camp Hill, PA –The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), the only non-profit whose mission is Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests, today announced the appointment of George Fernandez to its board of directors, effective January 1st, 2016.
George is the President and CEO of the Latino Connection (TLC). TLC is a multi-media company offering many services including business consultations about the Latino/Hispanic community, translations and interpretations, and also includes a bilingual magazine entitled The Latino Connection Magazine. Fernandez has a strong background in public relations, marketing and outreach. He hopes to encourage more people from the Latino community to use the state parks and state forest for a healthy lifestyle.
Fernandez plans to incorporate his business experience with his love of nature. “My hope with being a board member is to inspire Latinos across our Commonwealth to live an active and healthy life by visiting their local parks and forests,” said Fernandez
“George’s experience in public relations and marketing, as well as his desire to engage the Latino community in outdoor recreation, will be an asset to the work of PPFF,” said Marci Mowery, President of PPFF. “We look forward to helping him achieve his goal.”
Fernandez presently is on the Board of Directors of Family Health Council of Central PA and Tri County Community Action Commission, as well as an Education Advisory Committee Member of Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC.
Fernandez’s three year term will begin in January 2016. He will join four additional new board members including Dr. James Grace, Senator Stewart Greenleaf, Tina Molski and Dr. Christopher Sciamanna.
Additional members of the board include: Chair, George Asimos, Esq; Vice Chair, Maria Montero, Esq.; Treasurer, Gary Smith; Secretary, Brian Clark, Esq.; Jim Fields; Gus Frederick, Maxine Harrison, Rep. Mark Longietti, Barb Sexton, Mary Soderberg, and Rob Wonderling. Advisory board members consist of: William Forrey, Jon C. Oliver III, Linda McKenna Boxx, and Mary Weber.
