Camp Hill, PA –The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), the only non-profit whose mission is Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests welcome a new friends group; The Friends of Davis Hollow Cabin.
Originally built in 1780, the cabin is located in Moraine State Park and is one of the historic facilities along the North County Trail. The cabin fell into disrepair and nature took its toll. In 2005 a group of volunteers got together to conserve the cabin.
“Our goal has been to maintain this Revolutionary cabin so people could experience it rather than observe it as a museum” said Diane Weston, President of the Friends of Davis Hollow Cabin.
After months of hard work, and hundreds of volunteer hours the cabin is fully functional for visitors to spend the night. Through only world of mouth advertising, the first season of the cabin’s re-opening saw amazing success. Equipped with a full kitchen, two lavatories, large great room, and sleeping room for 11, the cabin has already hosted visitors from across the United States and around the world.
“Reading and hearing the comments that come to us from the guests, reinforces our commitment to these acts of love for posterity.” – Weston said.
Davis Hollow Cabin is available for visitors May – November each year. Reservations are required and open on March 30th. For information on renting the Davis Hollow Cabin for an event or overnight stay, please call 724-575-0471.
