Camp Hill, PA –The Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation (PPFF), the only non-profit whose mission is Pennsylvania’s state parks and forests, today held a dedication of the new ADA kayak launch at Beltzville State Park.
PPFF received a grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority through the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program, for Beltzville State Park to install an EZ dock launch, an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant transfer station and an access trail to the launch site at Beltzville Lake. PPFF has successfully planned and executed similar projects at other locations across the Commonwealth, but this is the first in the eastern part of the state.

The 3,002-acre Beltzville State Park has on average 500,000 visitors per year, many of whom participate in boating and fishing. The new ADA kayak launch will allow water access for recreation to people of all abilities. This project is consistent with Beltzville State Park’s comprehensive plan to provide quality visitor service to all state park customers and to remove attitudinal and physical barriers to allow access to facilities and programs for all visitors, especially population groups with specialized needs.
“We appreciate the support of the Commonwealth Financing Authority to realize this goal of placing an ADA kayak and canoe launch at Beltzville State Park” said Marci Mowery, President of the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation. “We also want to thank the amazing state park local and regional staff for their commitment to making the project. We hope that the dock creates new opportunities for people. ”
