For the better part of 50 years, the 40 Adirondack style shelters of the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail have provided a safe and comfortable overnight for countless hikers. With use and the passage of time, however, some of the functionality of the shelters have been lost. A decade ago, the chimneys were rebuilt and the shelters painted. Now it is time to address the fireboxes, to keep those fires burning!
